Transferring an employee’s absence balance during a Global Transfer ensures continuity, fairness, and compliance with legal requirements. It keeps employees motivated, accurately reflects financial liabilities, and facilitates a smooth transition and quick adaptation to new roles while preserving productivity.
With Oracle HCM Cloud, you can now configure absence plans to allow balance transfers to a target plan, provided both the source and target plans belong to the same category. A new configuration option is now available within the Balance Disposition Rules section accessible from the Participation tab of the absence plan setup page. This includes a subsection called “On Transfer to New Legal Employer”.
Steps to Configure Absence Plan for Balance Transfers:
Navigate to Absence Plans:
- Go to My Client Groups > Absences
- Search and Open the Plan:

- Go to Absence Definitions > Absene Plans > Search for the plan

- Open the plan > Go to Participation > Expand On Transfer to New Legal Employer Subsection
- Using the Transfer Balance To tab, we can allow balance transfer to the same plan or plan belonging to the same category.

- We can also maintain what happens to the carryover balance during the transfer. When we enable the option to transfer the balance to the same plan or plan category, multiple new checkboxes become editable which gives the option to maintain the Rollover balance, negative balance, and Retain Carryover Balance.

- We can set different rules on limits as well:
1. Unlimited
2. Limited by a flat amount
3. Limited by formula
- Each option gives access in such a way that we can handle the flat transfer or utilize a fast formula to reach the final goal.
