PeopleSoft PUM 43 | Absence Balance & Forecast Feature Enhancement

Oracle has delivered Absence Balance and Forecast Enhancements in PeopleSoft HCM Image 43 Update. Absence Balance and Forecast Enhancements has improved the self-service experience and provides the real-time result for all the absence elements.

Users can view the absence balance as of today based on the Forecasting elements. Admin can display the Forecasting message as per the absence management rules. You can define the criteria for issuing a success, warning, or Error message at end of the forecasting process. Real-time forecasting will provide you the real data based on the calendar period and future absence data.

 

Forecasting Option

The Forecasting Option will provide the below mentioned two features

  • Forecasting Request Enabled
  • Forecasting Balance Enabled

Note: Users can select one or both check box options at times based on the business requirement.

 

1. Forecasting Request Enabled

Select the Forecasting Request Enabled check box (Fig1.1) to enable the self-service users to run the online Absence forecasting process. This ensures a forecast balance button to appear on the Employee request absence page and Manager request absence page.

2. Forecast Balance Enabled

Select the Forecast balance Enabled check box (Fig.1.2) to enable the self-service users to run the online Balance Inquiry Process. This ensures a view Forecast Balance link to appear on the request Absence pages and view Absence Balances pages.

Retrieval Period

The retrieval period will retrieve the data based on the last processing calendar period.

The Retrieval period will provide the two features mentioned below

  • Last Finalized period
  • Last Processed period

Note: Users can select either of them, which controls the View Absence Entitlement balance based on the business requirement.

 

1. Last Finalized Period

Users can select the Last Finalized Period (Fig.2.1) option to show the Absence balance, based on the last Finalized calendar.

2. Last Processed Period

Users can select the Last Processed Period (Fig.2.2) option to show the absence balances based on the last processed calculated calendar.

Real-time Forecasting

This option enables real-time calculation of balance as of today. When the user requests a leave of absence, the system calculates your current balance as of today and recalculates it based on the number of hours or days you are requesting.

Calculation Rule

​The calculation rule is a period will identify the begin date and end date of the calendar period.

Under the Calculation Rule, we have two options as mentioned below

  • Limit By Months-Backward
  • Limit By Months-Forward
  • Limit By Months- Backward & Limit by Months-Forward
  • Define the range of months before and after the current date in which submitted the absence request must fall to be eligible for cancellation.

For example:

Let us consider, that the Limit By months – backward is set to 2 and the Limit by Months- Forward is set to 3. In this case, On March 18 users would be able to cancel the absence request submitted for January 1 till June 30.

Users can review the current Absence balance, based on the absence elements.

Enable Element Trace

Enable the Element Trace check box enables to generate the element resolution chain for forecasting. The resolution chain helps the admin to debug forecasting inaccuracy by analyzing the calculated data.

Check Eligibility

Absence Management will provide an option to ensure whether users are eligible or not. Once the user clicks on the Check Eligibility button, the system will check eligibility based on past and current absence requests.

View Balance

Self-service provides the feature to view your absence balance before requesting the absence.
