One of the most exciting advancements in our platform is the integration of OpenAI, which has revolutionized the way users generate forms based on their specific requirements.

Integrating OpenAI into Kovaion’s Low Code Application involved several key steps:

To start, we integrated the OpenAI API into our backend system. This involved:

  • API Key Management: Securely storing and managing API keys to ensure authorized access to OpenAI’s services.
  • Configuration: Setting up the necessary configurations to make API calls from our Node.js server.

 

2. Creating the Backend Interface

The backend interface acts as a bridge between the user’s input and the OpenAI API. This includes:

  • Input Processing: Capturing user input and formatting it into a request that OpenAI can understand.
  • API Requests: Sending requests to the OpenAI API and handling responses.
  • Data Handling: Parsing the API response to extract the necessary information for form generation.

 

3. Integrating with the Frontend

On the frontend, we used React to create a user-friendly interface that interacts with the backend. This involved:

  • Form Design Interface: Allowing users to input their requirements in a simple and intuitive manner.
  • Real-time Feedback: Displaying real-time suggestions and form previews based on user input.
  • Dynamic Rendering: Using React’s state management to dynamically render form elements as specified by the OpenAI-generated instructions.

 

4. Generating the Form Schema

Once the user’s requirements are processed by OpenAI, the response needs to be converted into a form schema. This involves:

  • Schema Interpretation: Translating the structured response from OpenAI into a JSON schema that defines the form’s fields, types, validations, and other attributes.
  • Form Builder: Using this schema to automatically build the form within our application, ensuring it adheres to the user’s specifications.

 

5. Testing and Optimization

To ensure the integration works seamlessly, extensive testing and optimization were required:

  • Functional Testing: Verifying that the forms generated meet the requirements specified by the users.
  • Performance Optimization: Ensuring that the API integration does not introduce significant delays or performance bottlenecks.

How to Create an Application Using OpenAI in Kovaion’s Low Code Platform?

 

Accessing the Application Creation Starting Point:

In this screenshot, you can see the main dashboard of Kovaion’s Low Code Application. From here, users can navigate to the form generator by clicking on the “Create the Application” tab in the sidebar menu. This interface serves as the starting point for creating new forms using the power of OpenAI.

Providing Application Details and Choosing Creation Method:

In this screenshot, after clicking the “Create Application” button, users are presented with three options: “Create Application,” “Create AI Generated Application,” or “Import Application.” This screen allows users to decide whether they want to manually design their application, use OpenAI to generate the application based on a natural language description, or import an existing application into the platform. This flexibility ensures that users can choose the method that best suits their needs and expertise.

Challenges and Solutions

Challenge: Handling Ambiguous Input

One of the main challenges was dealing with ambiguous or vague user inputs. OpenAI, while powerful, is not infallible and can sometimes misinterpret requests.

Solution: Implementing a validation layer that provides feedback to users, asking for clarification or additional details when necessary. This ensures that the generated forms accurately reflect user requirements.
